The
Elita line is our top-of-the-line CertainBass, and comprises three
models: the Elita Model One, Elita Model A and this, the Elita Model
A-1. No compromises. Combining elements of two of our favorite basses is the Elita Model
A-1 at $1650. With it's pair of split
pickups, it is infinitely adjustable for exacting string balance, and both
pickups are naturally hum canceling while retaining the true single coil sound
we know and love: the
presence. This configuration is not something I dreamed up as Fender
did a double P pickup bass in the 80’s (nice basses, but weighed a ton called
the Precision Elite), but am one of the few if not the only one making this
brilliant combination today. Fully
functions as a P bass and doubles as a Jazz very nicely. For even more
versatility, the standard A-1 controls are neck pickup volume/bridge pickup
volume/Varitone/choice of Varitone balance or master high-end roll-off (normal tone
control). Comes with wide variety of choices for necks
fretted or fretless, dots or block inlays, 1.5 inch at the nut or 11/16's
or 1.75 inch for the authentic, early 60’s P
Bass neck. The Elita A-1 pictured below is the classic sunburst with
tortoise shell guard, but it will come in any color you want, poly or nitro,
with or without matching headstock, classic colors or something you dream up,
use your imagination!
All
CertainBass Elitas include:
Solid
alder body (natural finish is ash), any color or finish you want, nitro or poly with or without matching
headstock. From vintage restorative finishes to wild custom finishes,
metal flakes, even flames. Other body woods sometimes available, ask about
our lightweight option.
Premium
authentic vintage specification necks, thick slab fingerboards, phillips truss rod adjustment at
heel. Comes with your choice of
vintage style 20 fret neck: rosewood fingerboard with block mother of
pearl inlays and white binding, maple fingerboard with block mother of pearl
inlays and white binding (like Marcus Miller's bass), maple fingerboard with
black block binding and black binding (a la Geddy Lee),dot inlay rosewood fretboard, dot inlay
maple fretboard, fretless ebony fingerboard, no
inlays, with or without fretlines and a rosewood defretted and coated dot inlay neck (we defret a fretted neck in order to achieve the Jaco neck). All necks are 1.5 inch at the
nut with the exception of the dot inlay necks can come in 1.5 or 11/16's or
1.75 for the classic, early 60’s Precision feel.
Your
choice of any pickguard color available (photo below
is just a few examples of your choices), notched or un-notched for easy truss
rod adjustmment access
Varitone system. Our Varitone is a six position
rotary switch that replaces a standard bass tone control. 1st position is
flat, wide open bass. 2, 3 and 4 are classic tones of Jaco and Jamerson, 5 is where the midrage dip and metallic sounds of Stanley and Marcus are,
and position 6 mimics an out of phase pickup tone (and has the same
effect on a P bass or other single pickup bass). Unlike other Varitones, ours has quiet switching, a must for
recording. All this tone shaping and totally passive, no
battery. A number of
configurations are available: simple volume and Varitone to retain vintage
look, a 3-knob system of volume/Varitone/blend or
volume/Varitone/master high end roll-off or a 4-knob
system of volume/Varitone/blend/master high end
roll-off. Side jack and concentric
pots involve othe options available. I’ll discuss your playing styles and how
you use your present tone controls to determine what’s best for
you.
